Second Week of June : 2010

The second week of June found Dawson Lake a very busy place. Some heavy thunderstorms moved through the area during the week but little time was lost and much progress was made.

Construction began on Lakeview West, which is the newest section of road. This road will offer one of the most beautiful drives with long views of the surrounding mountains and lake views along its entire length.

Bob's road crew finished up the rough grading around the spec home and was bringing in the underground utilities in advance of the well and septic system coming soon. Lead carpenter Bob Shoupe and the crew building the spec home continued moving along at a very rapid pace. Wiring, plumbing and windows are just around the corner.

The dam was raised about 5 feet and a new overflow was installed. This change created a beautiful water feature. Little Lake already has some really nice bass and bluegill in place.

The seed that was sown for the wetlands below the dam are starting to germinate and are growing rapidly.

Dawson Lake Progress : May 24, 2010 : Last Week of May at Dawson

It was a very busy day at Dawson Lake and Bob Chamberland had everything humming right along. The grass seed has germinated around the lake and the conduit crew is installing the last of the utilities underground.

Ole' Sondresen, Project Architect, was in from New York to put the finishing touches on the Spec house design. The home construction crew made amazing progress in the last two weeks and the home will soon be under roof.

Ole' and Bob also met with Agsten Construction's Peter McKinney to look at the plans for the beach cabana, changing rooms and swimming pools.

InvenEnergy's Windmill project managers Chris and Jeff took a tour of the project with Ole' and real estate sales agent Paul Grist.

Work on Easy Street was underway with Road Construction foreman Richard Persinger and Bob checking in on the rock hammer working to widen the road above the pond. This is going to be a beautiful area of the property when completed.

Dawson Lake Progress : May 8, 2010 : The "Big Dig"

The first week of May brought sunshine and excellent working weather and Bob's road crew made great progress fixing the slips and rebuilding the road at the top of the mountain. A rock hammer was brought in to bring the last section of road to finished grade.

Bob's spec home construction crew finished laying the foundation block and laid down the subfloor. Next week the walls will be going up and architect Ole' Sondresen will be coming in from New York. Ole' will be onsite to finalize the plans for the beach cabana and swimming pool.

The grass that was hydroseeded last week is sprouting and things are really starting to green up around the lake area.

Dawson Lake Progress : May 7, 2010 : Wetlands Established

Below are a few pictures taken the first week of May of the wetlands Bob Chamberland and crew created last fall at Dawson lake. The wetlands are very well established and there were even some small minnows swimming in the stream that meanders through the 15 acres.

Sedges, rushes and a wide variety of wetland plants and trees are flourishing in this special environment. Frogs, crayfish, redwing blackbirds and lots of butterfiles are now well established which is a good indication the wetland habitat was constructed just right.

Dawson Lake Progress : April 28, 2010 : Last Week of April

The hats and coats came out from behind the truck seats on the last week of April with a blast of winter weather.

Bob Chamberland and the home construction crew are making great progress with laying the block for the 1st home and should have that project completed by week's end.

Massey Reclamation has completed the hydroseeding of the area around the dam and the rye grass has already spouted along the backside of the dam.

Bob's foreman on the road construction crew, Richard Persinger, is working on the mountain top repairing a slip in the road and they are getting along very well with that project.

Mr. Persinger and crew just finished the construction of the new wetlands area below the dam last week and Massey seeded it down with a special mixture of sedges, rushes and other wetland species in time to catch the spring growing season.

Dowdy Road and Field Service was on hand to repair a problem with the Komatsu dozer.

The lake can now be seen in the long view from Lot 14 which is very exciting.
